The debate on church symbols raged on yesterday with a prominent theologian insisting that devil worshippers and freemasons should drop symbols borrowed from Christianity or face prosecution.
Thogoto Presbyterian College deputy principal Rev Solomon Kamau Macharia explained that Christianity began two million years ago with its own symbols and doctrines that freemasons stole to gain entry, six hundred years ago.
He said the issue of the disputed symbols was politicised by laymen before theologians could resolve it amicably in the church's supreme court.
Macharia maintained that Christians cannot do without symbols saying the Holy Communion and the wine is symbolic of the body of Christ.
He was speaking at the Thika's Elijah Kagiri PCEA Church during a graduation ceremony.
Thirty learners were conferred with Diplomas certificates in Theology and Counselling.
The principal Reverend Dr Palwson Kuria said political leadership in the country had deteriorated saying age was not a factor anymore.
He said anybody could become a leader as long as one is circumcised and aged 40 or above. He added that born-again Christians have turned fanatics pretending to know everything.
