THE Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) in Namibia has declared apartheid a sin, and apologised for supporting the system.
Following a meeting between the white, black and coloured congregations of the AFM, the church said it had decided to put the past behind it and focus on the process of reconciliation and healing.
Four years ago, the church's Workers Council acknowledged that 10 years after Independence the AFM church was still divided along racial, ethnic and economic lines.
Stating that the time had come for the church to get its house in order, the church's leaders rejected any division or fragmentation of the Body of Christ on the basis of race, colour, ethnicity or economic status.
It was also decided that 2005 be declared a year to celebrate reconciliation in the church by means of various kinds of meetings.
