The President of Catholic Cause, Dr. Francis D' Souza has urged the Christian community in the country to form 'Khristu Shanit Sena' (Christ's Forces of Peace) to deal with emergencies in areas where Christians are small in number. In an appeal letter to the Christian leaders in India dated February 21, Dr. Francis said that often religious nuns and priests are alone in remote areas and non-Christians in large numbers clamour for admissions or complain about some orphanage, hospital, old age home, or medical seat etc. Catholic Cause is a lay person's organisation based in Bangalore with the aim of promoting Christian values and supporting Church activities among Christians as well as non Christians. "Everywhere the church and all its bodies are under threat", said Dr. Francis and to defend Church personnel PEACEFULLY it is needed that lay people should come together under the umbrella of Khristu Shanti Sena. He expressed his deep concern at a poisoned and vicious atmosphere in the country where neutrality of state authorities are suspect and therefore he said that it is wise to have a strong and loyal Catholic group supporting Church authorities. However, he insisted on following Gandhian methods and better still Christian principles. The President of Catholic Cause is worried about the present situation of Christians in the country and said that the Christians live in difficult times and after fortifying themselves with prayer, they must defend Church and her institutions with all the love, courage, prudence, fortitude and commitment.
