Nairobi, Kenya
Kenya's Attorney-General Amos Wako has promised a comprehensive response next week to Catholic bishops, concerning investigations into the suspicious death of a priest.
Father Kaiser was found murdered on the morning of 24 August last year, about 100 km west of the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
Last Thursday six visiting American Catholic bishops called for fresh investigations into the death of Kaiser, who was a Mill Hill Brother missionary and an American citizen.
Father Kaiser was also a strong human rights activist, and his death triggered demonstrations in Nairobi streets with human rights organisations and university students demanding the arrest of his killers.
Following the murder the American government, working in tandem with the Kenyan authorities, called in a team of FBI sleuths to investigate alongside Kenyan police, clues that could lead to the arrest of the killers.
Although they are yet to finalise their inquiries, the investigators have so far suggested Fr. Kaiser committed suicide, a theory that has been met with protests, especially within the Catholic Church.
